I am looking to build a corporate intranet with alfresco community. Is there a demo url that i can use as a guide?
I have looked at the alfresco share and its much more of a document manager.
I suspect Alfresco alone isn't going to meet your requirements, but as you've not shared any details around your requirements it is hard to say for sure.
Alfresco Share is about as close to an intranet as you're going to get with Alfresco out-of-the-box.
You might also take a look at the Alfresco Digital Workspace to see if it is any closer to what you need, but it is still "Document Management".
I suspect you will need some larger/broader framework or custom application and that Alfresco will be used only to supply the document management piece of your intranet.
