Foundation Release Lifecycle
The Foundation Release Lifecycle has two release types:
- Enhancement Pack (EP): Enhancement Packs (EPs) are released when major changes are introduced. This includes new features, security improvements and defect corrections. The active EP receives security improvements and defect corrections during its service lifecycle. Upon release of a new EP, the EP reaches end of service typically after two years and is retired. The system will need upgraded to the next release to receive UPs.
- Update Pack (UP): Update Packages include smaller new features, security improvements and defect corrections. They are a tested collection of all minor changes in the current development cycle. A development cycle is usually 3-4 month. We recommend do use one of the two last Update Packages to ensure the best experience.
Lifecycle Policy
The Lifecycle Policy defines the servicing period for feature enhancements, security improvements, and defect corrections. Because of the difference in servicing periods, you should plan your upgrade cycle to ensure that corrections can be applied to the system as required.
Upon initial release, all EPs contain new feature enhancements. During the servicing lifecycle, security improvements and defect corrections happen on a periodic basis, which are provided through your first line of support and Hyland Community.
To ensure the best customer experience we changed our process to provide one EP with Update Packages for a longer period of time. This limits the need to upgrade for the customer and the development team can focus on fewer versions to increase the throughput which also benefits the customers.
Technical Support
Each version of a Foundation product is eligible for Technical Support assistance as detailed in the Software Maintenance Agreement. The standard Support will be delivered if a version is in Active Software Development Life Cycle. After the end date listed below the version will be subject to an Extended Support Fee (ESF).
