wiki article describes how to set the mimetype for the response of a web script. I have build a simple web script example which uses a freemarker template to create xml.

The http response header states the Content-Type field as:

Content-Type: text/xml;charset=UTF-8‍

So where could the encoding be set?

Just to clarify - do you want to set the Content-Encoding header on the response or modify the charset?

Just to let you know now that neither can be changed at this time, but this can be opened up.

But let me describe my use case further:

The freemarker template returns the description of defined documents within the alfresco repository as xml. Let say, i access a property with:

${document.properties[t]}‍

The property contains a special character like the Ã¢â€šÂ¬ (Euro-Sign). Which encoding is used for the freemarker template? UTF-8? Where could this encoding be set?

This question arises, because i recycled the freemarker template which was used with Alfresco 2.0 Community and the Template-Servlet. Using the Template-Servlet resulted in a latin1 (ISO-8859-1) encoding (no Ã¢â€šÂ¬!).

To create a valid xml document, the encoding has to match

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>‍

the acording xml header.

Is it save to assume, that always UTF-8 is used? This would eliminate the need to set the encoding.

The Web Script framework is currently always setting ;charset=UTF-8

The freemarker processor encoding can be configured in web-scripts-application-context.xml - in the bean webscripts.templateprocessor which I think by default is UTF-8.

There is perhaps a bug here, which is that the Web Script framework should output the charset according to the encoding of the template processor.

I'll check, but I think in your case, you're ok.

IMHO syncing the character set between the template processor and the web script output would be a good decision. Maybe an entry about the issue within the wiki too

I need to add 'Content-Disposition' = 'attachment; filename=name.txt' to the response of a webscript.

what are my options to open this up (this is quite a must here)??
