Hi,

1. We have checked out the source code from SVN and installed in SVN.
Can you please tell us how to build this source code?

ALso what will be the outcome of this process?

1. You should look at the http://svn.codehaus.org/activiti sources; the code.google.com repo is no longer in use - it was used when we were first getting started setting up the designer. The easiest way to get things setup in Eclipse is to checkout each of the top-level folders in the designer folder as new projects in Eclipse. Then, for each project use Maven 3 to make them ready for use in Eclipse by performing mvn clean eclipse:clean eclipse:eclipse in each of the projects' root folder. Refresh the projects in Eclipse and you're all set to go.

Balaji,

you should perform eclipse:eclipse on the parent project. Same goes for install.

From the error message it looks like a dependency cannot be resolved. Do you have an internet connection on the machine you're using to create the build? There are 3 repositories listed in the pom.xml file of the parent project. Can you reach those repositories? The build is trying to download an set of dependencies from there.

if you're referring to the 404 on the page, you might be misled because the page is in fact an Eclipse update site. Anyway, your problem is with an artifact that is available in the central Maven repo (http://repo1.maven.org), so you'll need connectivity to that repo. Otherwise, you'll need to download the artifacts by hand or on a different machine and transfer them or look into using a proxy solution such as nexus to provide access to public repos for internally-bound machines.

Below are the enviornments spec

OS - Redhat Linux
Initially,We had maven 2 installed in our system. Then based on your advice we installed maven 3 and the new maven environment was set up
using export command. We also removed the repository(.m2/repository) to avoid any clashes between old and new jars.

Also,by the error message we could see still the link is pointing to http://repo1.maven.org/maven2. (Have already placed the entire message in this thread). Even we replicated the entire scenario in another machine but still same error was encountered.

Is there any other property we need to set to build the parent project.

We are badly stuck up here and not able to proceed further. Please help us.

What result do you get from a wget http://repo1.maven.org/maven2 command in the console?

If you're behind a proxy, you'll need to setup maven 3's settings to use the proxy. That might be the problem.

In eclipse ,File -> Export->Plug-InDevelopment -> Deployable Plug-ins and fragments.
then plugin jars will be created. After restarting the eclipse,Can we visualize the output?

If you want to run an Eclipse instance with the changes you made (or with just our original code), you can right click the org.activiti.designer.eclipse plugin project as choose Run as > Eclipse application. That's a *lot* quicker than creating a build with Maven. Building with Maven just bundles all of your project's artifacts so you can distribute to an update site for instance or an archive. It's not part of the daily development routine.

If You have errors in the projects, you won't be able to run the plugins. You should make sure there are no errors first. The most likely culprit is the model project. Try running a mvn eclipse:clean eclipse:eclipse on that project and then refreshing in Eclipse. Good chance you'll have to do the same with the other projects.

Yep, that's because Eclipse doesn't actually look in your Maven repo. In Eclipse, you're using the PDE (plugin development environment) to load stuff. It will assume everything you need is in Eclipse or in a target environment definition. The most convenient way is to install the Graphiti SDK from the nightly update site (that's what we do). Add this site to your Eclipse: http://download.eclipse.org/graphiti/updates/nightly and install the SDK from it. That should fix you dependencies (you might need to do a project clean).

We ran the graphiti nightly build to remove the errors related to that package.
But still we could see more errors on source files such as GUI,Design etc.Errors are some hundreds in number

Do we need to perform any nightly build updates on eclipse core packages?

in the gui project, if you open up the MANIFEST.**** file, are there exceptions in it? That copy handler class relies on classes from certain Eclipse bundles. It would appear you have a problem with those dependencies. Which exact version of Eclipse are you using?

the second one seems to be a similar problem. Please check that the Eclipse build path is setup correctly and all dependencies can be found - that might save you headaches over these amounts of errors.

We have rectified the manifest file error after installing graphiti nightly builds.
We are using eclipse helios 3.6.Also, We have updated eclipse core to rectify few errors but it didnt work out.

For setting build path we gave "mvn elipse:eclipse" using maven 3. I hope it takes care of build path. Apart from these

the problem you're having is that your build path is Eclipse is still not correct. From the first couple of errors you can determine that the javax.xml.stream package from the JRE is not on the build path. That means the project either doesn't have the Java nature (it's not a Java project) or the JRE is not linked on the build path. Try re-running mvn eclipse:clean eclipse:eclipse on the project, then go back to Eclipse and right-click the project and choose refresh.

We have removed the XML package error.Actuallym JRE is pointed to 1.5, We changed to 1.6 which causes those
