external connections to alfresco platform

Hello,

we have an Alfresco platform at the University of Grenoble-Alpes (France) and I was wondering if there are any specific requirements for external users (upon invitation by site managers) in order to connect to the platform. I have seen some users experiencing difficulties, while for others this is not the case.
