Where will the bootstraps look for the config files in other server installations?

The system looks on the classpath - which is why for TomCat and JBoss we place the extension in the 'shared/classes' directory and the 'server/default/conf' directories. You will need to find the appropriate 'shared' classes/jar location for your app server and that should work.
