Activiti with Groovy backend

For a new Activiti project we are doubting between a Java backend or a Groovy backend with Spring integration.
Question is … How wel does Groovy integrate with Activiti ?

I don't want to use the Scripting task but the service task. But when I declare the groovy beans in Spring … Can I simply use them in a Service task (using an expression) ?

I'm not really familiar with the Groovy integration in Spring.
As long as these Groovy beans expose themselves as "normal" Spring beans, yes.
