Xforms in version 1.4

simonaberry

The roadmap states that version 1.4 will support Xforms (Chiba) - yet the preview doesn't seem to include this feature.

Is it just hidden somewhere - or has it been dropped from the release due to development pressure ?

Hi,
Does someone have any information about this ?
I can't find it too in the 1.4 preview version.
Thx.

Hi

The initial XForms integration is part of the WCM Preview, which is coming soon. We will extend the XForms use into the whole of Alfresco as we move forward.

Cheers
Paul.

Thx for your reply.
Is WCM Preview part of the 1.4 version or 2.0 version which is coming at the end of the year ?

The WCM preview will be a separate technology preview release before 2.0 - should be soon!

Cheers

Wow… I had my first XForms experience last weekend… I think it was… a religious one

I am utterly amazed at what you can do with the technology in a short amount of time! In a few hours I was able to put together a UI, I think would take me a fair amount of time to do otherwise (measured in days.) JSF may be the only other technology I think I have used which lets you do the kinds of things I have seen, on the same timescale as I have experienced with xforms. Most JSF components do not offer the kind of experience the chiba implemention of XFORMS provides. Anyway… If nothing else I have found a new prototyping tool… Alfresco community… if you have not found XFORMS or chiba… go get it.

Sure its not the end all be all of application development. (not that what I think matters) – I think of it just like I do ajax. Great tool in the toolbox. Mix this stuff with some other technologies and frameworks and I think you will see thier virtues magnified many fold.

Anyway…. Im still feeling warm and fuzzy about working with chiba so I thought I'd share my excitement
