Search Issue and Search by document package

Hi all, i'm a newbie in here, and trying to implement dms for my current job.

I uploaded word document, do a search on the keyword, and everything works fine. I then uploaded a PDF, do a search, and it gave me nothing back. I then print the original word into PDF, uploaded it and search based on the same keyword, it didn't give me anything on the 1st search, however gave me that pdf on the 2nd search.

Looks like the search function returns a different result when doing a search on PDF. Does anybody know why and how to solve this obvious problem?

I also would like to tag several documents into 1 package and do a search by the tag info. Is that something that can be done in alfresco?

Hi

If the conversion from pdf to text is expected to take too long then the text index may be done in the background. "Too long" is configured in repository.properties. So it may be indexed a bit later and start to appear in the search results.

How do we know that the document is being indexed or not? Is there any specific rule? Most of the time, my scanner scan the docs into 1 big pdf, then i notice that it has saved it as an image inside that doc, so when i tried to edit the text it is locked. This is not a problem unless when i tried to find the document based on invoice no or vendor no, then i have a big problem.

Do you know the solution for this problem?

There are a few special search phrases that show content that was not indexed correctly.

Could you search Image PDF from the Scanner without any OCR? or do it with searchable PDF before send to Alfresco? or you are using the OCR Server which is the rule base OCR in the core content? but you need to send the TIF file to the content server is that correct?
