Disabling 'Create Site' Button

borisstankov

Hello all,

Do anyone of you know, or did anyone tried to disable (hide) the "Create Site" Button for non Admin users (or show it only for specific group of ppl)?
I'm using Alfresco 5.0.c. I found some topic on 4.0, 4.2 and even older versions, but I tried them all and non of them worked as it should.

Regards!

Do you mean the button on my-sites dashlet ?

vincent-kali

try to override files
share/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/site-webscripts/org/alfresco/modules/header/sites.get.html.ftl
share/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/site-webscripts/org/alfresco/modules/header/sites.get.js
its quite 'dirty' but I don't how to do that in any other way…

ex:
in ftp template:

<#if createSiteVisible>
      <ul class="create-site-menuitem">
         <li>
            <a href="#" onclick='Alfresco.util.ComponentManager.get("${id_js}").showCreateSite(); return false;'>${msg("label.create-site")}</a>
         </li>
      </ul>
</#if>
‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

in js:
createSiteVisible function returns true/false if user is admin….
(i'll post an example later id needed)

Did you check this .. http://docs.alfresco.com/5.0/tasks/dev-extensions-share-tutorials-custom-header-sites-menu.html

borisstankov

Thank you for the notes, I'll try them next week when I'm back in the office. And I'll give you a feedback.
Just a question about code in the .js file, would you please let me know where I need to add it?
I can see :
model.showCreateSite = true;
I assume that I need to ovewrite it with something like:
if (user == admin)
{model.createSiteVisible = true}
else {model.createSiteVisible = false}

Am I right?

Regards!

borisstankov

Thanks for the note. Unfortunatelly I never found this topic. I'll check it next week when I'm i nthe office and I'll give you my feeback.

Cheers!

you can try to add this code in my-sites.get.js:

var createSiteVisible = userHasGroup(user.name, 'SiteCreators');
model.createSiteVisible = createSiteVisible;

function userHasGroup(username, group) {
    var result = remote.call("/api/people/" + stringUtils.urlEncode(username) + "?groups=true");
    if (result.status == 200 && result != "{}") {
        var user = eval('(' + result + ')');
        var groups = new Array();
        groups = user.groups;

        for (i = 0; i < groups.length; i++) {
            if (groups[i].itemName == "GROUP_" + group || groups[i].itemName == "GROUP_ALFRESCO_ADMINISTRATORS") {
                return true; // found group
            }
        }
        return false;
    } else {
        return false;
    }
}‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

Edit: the code had some errors, and there were parts not relevant to the topic, so I fixed it and removed those parts.

Did you try my add-on?
https://github.com/jpotts/share-site-creators

It restricts the create-site links everywhere they exist to only the members of the Site Creators group. If it doesn't work in 5.0.c create an issue and I'll look at it.

HI Vincent,

I just tried the code added to my-sites.get.js. However I still can see the button with all users.
I'm using LDAP - AD authentication, I didn't mentioned, because I do not think it's relevant.

Also should I delete some compiled files before I restart the service? I'm asking because not so long ago I did that when I needed to do some other customizations.

Regards,
Bobi

Hello Jeff,

I'll try this add-on for sure on my version. I'll keep you posted.

hi,
i can't understand the installation step. kindly explain how to on alfresco 5.0d

mauricio_neto

Running on 5.0.d with multi-tenancy enabled is not working fine

Hi Jeff,
I've installed your very interesting add-on, but does not working fine. I have two issues:

1 - The menu "Create Site" remains visible even for users who are not in the group "GROUP_SITE_CREATORS".
2 - The user has no permission to create a new site even he are in the group "GROUP_SITE_CREATORS".

I'm new with Alfresco, so there is anything I can check to solve this?

Thanks!
Mauricio

First, make sure you have checked out the 5.0.d branch. The code in the master branch will not work with 5.0.d.

Then, build the source using mvn install. You must do this once for the repo tier project and once for the share tier project.

Finally, install the AMPs that get placed in each of the two projects' target directories. The easiest way to install an AMP is to place it in the amps or amps_share directory then run apply_amps.sh.

If that doesn't resolve your problem please provide specifics on what you are trying to do and the error message you are seeing.

Hi,

I am getting the following error when I run the mvn install, can't you post the two amp files for 5.0.d?

Hey,

It all worked after I ran this command: mvn -Dplugin=install help:describe

Thanks a lot for your contribution

elsorro

This plug-in LDAP does not work well …

I can not create sites with user group members.

05290021 Wrapped Exception (with status template): 05290204 Failed to execute script 'classpath*:alfresco/templates/webscripts/org/alfresco/repository/site/membership/membership.put.json.js':

jpotts

Just to confirm: When you run 5.0.d out-of-the-box, with no customizations at all, you can create sites with user group members and you won't see that exception. After you install the share site creators AMPs you see the error.

Is that what you're seeing?

I using alfresco community 5.0.d and i try to use share-site-creators-5.0.d but when I try "mvn install" inside folder share-site-creators-repo I have this error:

I think that Jeff's addon is not compatible in the maven install. However, I've been able to create the amp files on an older version and been able to successfully use them in 5.0+

You might check github and see if he's updated anything.

jpotts

I'm not aware of any issues with mvn install. If you think you've found one and you can reproduce it reliably with the code currently in github, please file an issue at:
