Applying new aspect removes properties of another

I created a custom type/aspect.  I can create a document and it shows the basic properties (title, desc…), but after I add my new aspect I will only see its properties and not the basic ones.

There's no error in the Alfresco stderr file.  How can I debug this?

Got it finally!  I didn't realize I had to add directives to show the parent aspect fields in the share-config-custom.xml file under the <config evaluator="aspect" … > tag.
