Renaming Sites

dcoales

Hi,

When you change a site name using the "Edit Site Details" form this only changes the site title so although the site appears to have the new name when searching for sites it still appears in the repository browser under the old name.

Is it possible to rename the top level folder associated with a site ? I tried renaming it via the repository browser in Share but that seemed to confuse the app and I got the following error message when I then tried to do a site search :

05160080 Wrapped Exception (with status template): 05164643 Error during processing of the template 'Method public org.alfresco.repo.jscript.ScriptableHashMap org.alfresco.repo.site.script.Site.listMembers(java.lang.String,java.lang.String,int) threw an exception when invoked on org.alfresco.repo.site.script.Site@cfd1b4'. Please contact your system administrator.‍

I renamed the folder back again and all was well. Is there a correct way to do this. I would prefer the folder names in the repository browser to match the site names in the site browser.

Cheers,
David

No sorry, we don't support renaming Site "short names" because there are related assets that are linked by name, e.g. the Site membership groups, the Dashboard metadata, etc.

If you really don't like your Site's name, create a new Site and move everything across.

Thanks,
Mike

OK will do. Presumably I will have to reinvite everyone to the new project though - not a major problem in this case as there aren't many users.

Many thanks for your swift response by they way.

Yes, you will. I agree it's not ideal. You could raise a JIRA ticket which will help raise the issue's profile internally.

Thanks,

I would be more than happy to do that. Can you point me at any user guide on how to access JIRA - I'm a complete newbie here.

There's a link in my signature. You'll have to create an account (I don't think the work's complete to tie it to the forum login yet)

Thanks,

Renaming sites is a known issue. There are already issues for it. And product management is aware its needed.

Ok, so nothing for me to do then. That's the short of result I like.
