clean installation - CentsOS 5.7 64bit

I just deployed a clean install of CentOS 5.7 64bit and the newest build (4.0 a) of Alfresco. Everything seems to install properly but when accessing the url it hangs on the login page when loading and never loads?! If I reboot the server I get a 'tomcat failed to start. Is it already running?' error.

Any suggestions?

No there's no need to set any Debug settings yet.

However there's nothing to suggest an error in what you have posted.

I do note that you are using your 3.4.e config. Are you trying to run 4.0.a and 3.4.e at the same time?

I don't see many 4.0.a in that snippet, are you sure that's the correct log file?

I seem to recall "ObjID already in use" is a common Centos issue around hostname resolution. I think there's something on our wiki about creating an entry in the hosts file for "{hostname} 127.0.0.1"

I used '192.168.160.6' for my IP instead of 127.0.0.1. I assume I was supposed to do this.. I'll check out the wiki

I've altered my hosts and hostname files in every way mentioned in the forums and still no luck. When accessing http://192.168.160.6:8080/share or /alfresco the web browser just sits spinning/loading and nothing happens. Now, if I access http://192.168.160.6:8080 the Tomcat page pulls up just fine.

Any suggestions? I even loaded a clean install of Ubuntu 11 64 bit. I've tried two different OS' and same symptoms.

2 GB's of RAM - 100 GB of disk space.

It's a virtual machine using Ubunutu 64 bit as the machine type. I'm running the most current version of Ubuntu 64bit. Originally my machine was set for 384 MB and then changed it to 2 GBs. I simply powered down the VM and changed the memory and then powered it back up. I would assume nothing else is required.

I did another clean install on Ubuntu v10 64bit. Below are the logs. Same symptoms… Takes 5+ minutes to load any of the Alfresco pages.

I'm able to access my Alfresco install via the Gnome/Firefox on the server via http://192.168.160.6:8080/share. But. If I try to access through the VPN it loads the page.. But.. Really slow… It takes a few minutes per page…. Sometimes longer than 5 minutes. It only loads quickly on the server. I'm able to instantly load the Tomcat home page through the VPN just fine.

If I bypass the VPN and open up port 8080 and try to access the site I get the same results.. Extremely slow loading pages… Sometimes it never loads… You'll see the title of the page but that's it.

It ended up being a VPN issue. I was using Zentyal for my VPN server and for some reason it didn't like my Alfersco install. I tried three different OS' and two different versions… All had the same symptoms. After moving to a different VPN server it worked perfectly.
