Customizing issues with community edition 4.0.e

Hi team,
We downloaded and installed community edition 4.0.e successfully,can visit my local site 127.0.0.1:8080/alfresco(share)
But when followed the book Alfresco developer guide written by Jeff and the online pdfs to extend our Explorer,
we put some *-context.xml into TOMCAT_HOME\shared\classes\alfresco\extension
and the sample of SomeCo content type xml into TOMCAT_HOME\shared\classes\alfresco\extension\model,
restart the tomcat ,we always meet the 404 error,and meanwhile the share is unable to log in.

If removing these additional xml files ,our explorer works again,and share is able to log in ,too.
Hoping you can help me with this situation.

Can you share the exception that you might have received while starting Alfresco.
If there is any problem while loading the context file, alfresco would not start. And if alfresco doesn't start properly , it won't allow you to login to share.

Problem with your context file can be the model you are trying to load via context file have some issue. Can you share the files that you are using.

Thank you very much Vandana,we tried again and it works,but now we meet an important problem:
When I create some content and upload some docs into alfresco,it performs well,except
1.Basic search for 'tag' property which is not of Chinese words work well,but can't search tags in Chinese words
2.Advanced search can search properties such as 'title','description',that can be of Chinese words, but if not choosing advanced search ,comes out nothing
3.After our docs and content all saved and I want to shutdown the tomcat server,but no matter how to stop it,it was always running.I had to restart my computer
4.After restarting computer,start tomcat,open share,I found all the docs' and contents' Chinese words all became '?', while alphanumeric things not changed

Hi Reese,

For your Chinese character Problem, i verified the scenarios you mentioned, things are working on Alfresco Enterprise 4.0.2.9 version.
You can try on latest community version or enterprise trial version.
