Alfresco Development

I have downloaded the Alfresco source code. I imported the project in eclipse but unable run or see the webpage as I can see while I install Alfresco in my machine. Is this source code is only for making SDK purpose or I can see the webpage if I run it in eclipse? Where I can found "Alfresco share", "Alfresco Explorer" in the source code, that is available in svn?

Please help me.

Thanks for your kind reply. Now I have built Alfresco successfully, but after that when I give "http://localhost:8080/alfresco" in the browser, no login screen coming and only 16 tables have been created in mysql. Can u please help me out. I getting the following error,

Thanx for ur kind reply. I am just stuck in this building process. U suggested that I need to change heap space in catalina.bat, but when I install tomcat there is not any catalina.bat file in C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\bin. Only 4 files are there,bootstrap.jar, tomcat6.exe, tomcat6w.exe, tomcat-juli.jar. What I will do, please suggest.

Which version of Alfresco you are using . If you are using alfresco V.3.4 then you have to make few settings.
Try the following:

1. Install Alfresco using default settings.
2. Open a command-prompt.
3. Go to c:\alfresco\tomcat\bin.
4. Type 'tomcat6w.exe //ES//alfrescoTomcat' (to edit the settings of this service)
5. Go to 'Java' tab of the resulting dialog box.
6. Replace default Java options with the following:

-Xms512M
-Xmx768M

-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote
-Dcatalina.base=C:\Alfresco/tomcat
-Dcatalina.home=C:\Alfresco/tomcat
-Djava.endorsed.dirs=C:\Alfresco/tomcat\endorsed

For Previous versions of Alfresco , make the following changes in <install-alfresco>/alfresco.bat . Set the perm Gen and Heap size according to memory allocated to your computer

Try to remove your database , delete alf_data folder .
Create a new database , made the changes in alfresco-global.properties to point it to new database.

If I want to change Login screen in alfresco source code, what I need to chnage in alfresco source code. I have changed 2 images in webclient—>source—–>web—>jsp—–>login.jsp. But when I build and deploy it in tomcat, it always showing me the old alfresco login screen. Help needed.

I got acpgenerator, and It generated 1 folder named "importContent" and 1 file called "importXML.xml". I ziped it and rename it to .acp. But can please tell me why .acp file? why that extension needs.

I copied this 2 files to $TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/alfresco/WEBINF/classes/alfresco/extension. But when I uploaded .acp file its throwing error like "URI LIC.model not found in alfresco dictionary".
Please help me out.

Thanx for your reply. I have downloaded the source code from "svn://svn.alfresco.com/alfresco/HEAD/root" and build that and deployed it to Tomcat 6.0.

Can anybody please help me out??

can you please tell which alfresco version you are using .
Also , can you check if the model is deployed properly . Make changes in web-client-config-custom.xml and create a content of type 'LIC.model '. If you are not able to see content type in drop down which means , the model is not deploying itself.

Check the following links to create content model and deploy within alfresco explorer:

These are the basic steps to deploy content model .

In summary:
1. Create a model file
2. Create a context file to deploy model
3. Create a web-client-config-custom.xml for displaying custom content and properties.

Again I am getting this error ,

I have added the following web-client-config-custom.xml file in TOMCAT extension folder,

There is problem in deploying of custom model in alfresco 3.4 .
Try to make changes as suggested below:
Go to tomcat/webapps/alfresoc/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/extension/quickr-model-context.xml. Make the highlighted change there.

I didnt find any such xml file. My Tomcat folder structure is like,
C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\alfresco\WEB-INF\classes\alfresco\extension\bootstrap and under bootstarp I found only remote-api-context.xml.

Go to tomcat/webapps/alfresoc/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/extension/quickr-model-context.xml

Please check the path properly.

Nops, in this location C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\alfresco\WEB-INF\classes\alfresco\extension there is not file only one folder named "bootstrap" is there.

Meanwhile I have modified "core-services-context.xml" and write the following line,
"<value>alfresco/model/LICModel.xml</value>" and the error changed to "org.alfresco.service.cmr.view.ImporterException: Failed to import package at line 5; column 24 due to error: Definition {LIC.model}Policy_number is not valid; cannot find in Repository dictionary

I can see 6 files inside extension folder. I am not sure if you are doing it correctly.
Please check if you have all files in place.
Try to search "quickr-model-context.xml" this file in alfresco.

Can anybody help me? I didnt find any file called "quickr-model-context.xml". Right now I can upload .acp file without any errors, but the custom properties are not showing. Only the default properties have been shown.

Thank for your help. I have solved the problem. I think its basically a problem with alfresco version 3.4, cos there is no file in Tomcat 6.0\webapps\alfresco\WEB-INF\classes\alfresco\extension. I have created 3 files in that folder named 1. quickr-model-context.xml 2. webclient.properties 3. web-client-config-custom.xml and one folder named "model" where I have put the model file. After that I have restarted my server and everything working fine.

In my local machine I have installed Tomcat6.0, now I want to install database into another machine and connect that database from local machine. But can you please tell me how to change the connection string of alfresco. I have already change "alfresco-global.properties" file and copy that file into "C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\webapps\alfresco\WEB-INF\classes", but no luck.
