Alfresco Fails to Start

I modified something in the alfresco directory (The Permissions XML) that broke something (Replacing it with the backup didn't revert the issue), so I stopped the server and replaced the entire alfresco directory with the backup.
However, when I attempt to start the server, it wont start.

Visiting the webapp in a browser leads me to a 404 page stating The requested resource () is not available.
Viewing the log brings up a page of exceptions all relating to port 50501 already being in use.

Removing commons-el.jar did not solve the issue.

Has anyone else had this problem? How would I fix this?

You need to post the errors from your alfresco.log and try to remember what you did, which files you replaced etc.

Port 50501 in use may mean another program has grabbed that port and is using it.    You need to find out which other program is using it and close that down.  Alternatively you can re-configure that port number that alfresco uses by changing alfresco-global.properties or simply set the number to 0.
