Upload new version failed

We are having troubles uploading new versions of .pdf files into the repository. We can upload new files without any issues, but when we try to "Upload New Version" it returns "Failed". I have been able to do this in the past but I can't now, I have no idea what has changed though. Has anyone else had this issue, how can I fix?

We are using the "Upload New Version" button within Alfresco Share. The files are being stored in a folder within the Repository. I don't know anything about any error logs. The window that comes up (Update File) to pick the file to upload shows that it has failed.
