limit number of failed logins

Hi all

I run community edition 3.4.d.

How can I configure a limit for failed user logins (for alfresco and share).
Is there a property or a JMX attribute which I can set.

I set "server.transaction.max-retries" in the alfresco-global.properties, but it had no effect.

We wouldn't expect server.transaction.max-retries to have an effect on that setting since that controls the number of times to retry on certain concurrency exceptions.

The "normal" way of controling use login is to use some sort of external authentication system, e.g LDAP and AD. Those authentication systems control things like password strength and user login lock out.
