File preview in Repository

ventus85

Good morning.

In Alfresco Share we can have a preview of a file (eg pdf, jpg etc. etc), as shown below.

What used to generate the preview (i.e. the thumbnail on the left)?

Thanks to all

😎 the thumbnail service …

Which is built upon Alfresco's transformation service.

Which allows you to plug in various tools to transform content from one mime type to another, in this case its a JPEG to SWF transform.

Thank you.
Now I look in the thumbnail service…

A curiosity: looking at the source code I saw the flash file is inside the folder ../share/WebContent/components/preview

I didn't understand one thing:
how do you create and insert the flash object (ie the container with the arrows and buttons)?

Edit:
I'm reading this page http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Installing_Alfresco_components

Alfresco Share uses Flash Player for viewing Flash previews and also when you use the multi-file upload facility.
[…]
Alfresco Share uses the pdf2swf utility of the SWFTools for previewing PDF files. The pdf2swf utility generates one frame per page of fully formatted text inside a Flash movie.

but I did not understand how to use it …

For example if I want to integrate it in a web page
in the web page I see the flash swf, but inside is empty.
