Here's the guide for Enterprise 3.4. Jboss is not "supported" for community which is why its not documented, but I'd expect it to run. http://docs.alfresco.com/3.4/topic/com.alfresco.Enterprise_3_4_0.doc/tasks/alfv3-jboss-install.html
I also note that the supported version for enterprise is JBoss 5. http://www.alfresco.com/services/subscription/supported-platforms/

I am attempting to do the same and am getting the same errors as the original post. It looks like we have to dig in and find out.

I got a little bit further than the TLD error message. What I did was to manually look for the spring-surf-1.0.0.CI-SNAPSHOT.jar in the WEB-INF\lib directory and extracted the contents. I then opened the offending surf.tld file, removed empty lines between the tags, zipped it back to a jar file and copied the jar file. Upon redeployment I am now getting a different error message:

What are the reasons behind your changes?!

anyway, to avoid further problems, i have installed JBoss 5.1.0.GA, which is supposed to be the most compatible according to somewhere in the documentation, and Jboss works well without deploing Alfresco-3.4.d, but when deployed i get the related errors in the server.log file:

In fact, i have faced the same problem even with JBoss 5, in addition it has been marked as a bug:

What are the reasons behind your changes?!

The original error that was being thrown had something to do with the routine not being able to parse the surf.tld file:

Caused by: org.jboss.as.server.deployment.DeploymentUnitProcessingException: Failed to parse "/content/alfresco.war/ WEB-INF/lib/spring-surf-1.0.0.CI-SNAPSHOT.jar/META-INF/tlds/surf.tld"

I did a search on the org.jboss.as.web.deployment.TldParsingDeploymentProcessor.parseTLD message and found some link somewhere (not related to Alfresco) that mentioned that it the xml files have to be "trimmed". Each line was properly trimmed so I thought that removing that empty line would do it and it did.

For those who are interested, i was able to install Alfresco only on the old version of Jboss, which is 4.3.
I hope that Alfresco community works on newer versions of Jboss as there's even the version 7 to benefit of their advantages.
