Default value of Custom Type 'Date Field'

Hi All
I have defined custome type, in it one of the filed is a Date, say expiry date.
For some of the documents there is no expiry date, and I since the exiry date filed is mandatory, some values should be filled up.
Can I keep the default date to 00-00-0000
How could I set a default value for the date?

The user (the person whom I am trying to give DM) thinks that his documents should have this date set field as mandatory
And he wants in that way.
End users or decision makers demands such a scenario

Well, your best option is probably to set the Date to something way off in the future and do that with a behaviour or a rule where a custom javascript gets executed upon the creation of this type.

Here is an old thread that mentions something similar using the "behaviour" way.
