Starting Advanced Workflow without initial document

Hi everyone,

Is it possible to start Advanced Workflow without initial 'attaching' to some document?

According to general BPM concepts, it should be possible to start (initiate) some workflow (with or without) some workflow variables and latter, on some point, to eventually tide some documents (or any other resource) to current activity… Does we need to write some custom code in Alfresco to make something like that?

Indeed you should.

However for a long time there was a variance between the documentation for start workflow and the code so it did not work. I think its been fixed now.

The work around for the old versions is to specify a dummy node or company_home.
