Hi. Evaluating Alfresco here and I am wondering if this CMS is useful for:

A) Creating data stores. (basically mimicking a database: say a table for dogs, a table for owners and a table for dog-owners that would be related, naturally)

Easy CRUD (create, read, update, delete) functionality…. essentially an interface in which we can manage the data that is created in A above. (with certain users/groups having certain editing powers on said data management page)

We're looking for a CMS that allows us to create these data stores without having to do custom DB/interface design.

Thanks

Yes alfresco will do this.    You can define a "dog" type.  And associate an "owners" type.

However its primary purpose is to manage content, rather than being a DB tool.    And in particular Alfresco may over simplify some of the pure relational database concepts to make it easier for content management use-cases.
