Custom Attributes in Custom Content Types

Hi ,

I have downloaded alfresco and installed.The UI looks great !.I am yet to work on adding custom attributes as specified in the help.

I have some expereince with Documentum.In Documentum there is a feature to provide value assistance for CUSTOM ATTRIBUTES.
We can also specify a QUERY to selct values for an attribute.

IS there a way to provide QUERY to initialise Custom attributes with default values.

Note: The query may fetch data from external databases for getting values.

Hi,

No, unfortunately we don't currently have support for allowable values in attributes, I believe this feature is due to be implemented in 1.3.

In the meantime, if you were willing to write some custom code, what you're asking should be fairly easy to do.

If you look at projects/web-client/source/web/jsp/wizard/new-rule/details.jsp there is a section of code like the following:

<h:selectOneMenu value="#{NewRuleWizard.type}">
   <f:selectItems value="#{NewRuleWizard.types}" />
</h:selectOneMenu>‍‍‍

This calls a getTypes() method on org.alfresco.web.bean.wizard.NewRuleWizard to retrieve the items to display.

If you used something similar you could easily retrieve the values from an external database.

Which page should we customize in order to implement what you suggest on a custom attribute added to a custom model?

Apparently when adding a new custom content having custom attributes, the page edit-content-properties.jsp is called and automatically handle custom attributes using r

ropertySheetGrid custom tag. So apparently, there is no way to have an attribute bind to either a hardcoded list of values or bind to a custom DB table… Except if since these messages were posted, something has changed…
