Alfresco 3c, jboss and WCM

Hi guys,
our configuration is:

-Alfresco ver.3c
-jboss 4.2.3
-apache tomcat 5.5.17

Now we would like to install WCM module.

Which are the differences between WCM installed on Alfresco 3 rather than 3.3?

Can u tell me which files I have to download and configure to achieve the goal?
Can u please tell me where i can find some comprehensive guide or tutorial?

The release notes for the versions between 3 and 3.3 will have details of the WCM enhancements. For example 3.3 adds three new WCM services, 3.2 reworked the WCM deployment framework and introduced clustering for AVM repositories, 3.1 Added a bunch of new APIs.

Look at the "Install" section of the first link I posted.

The install section refers to Alfresco 3.3, not Alfresco 3… Where can i find install documentation like that that refers to Alfresco 3?

I'm assuming that you mean the Labs 3c release in which case the files are here : http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Installing_Labs_3c I don't think there was an install guide for that release.

This wiki page tells you how to install WCM.

WCM is fine without the VS it but obviously if you are not running it then you wont be able to use features like preview via the VS.

As per the link above to install Alfresco WCM you need to unzip the WCM package (alfresco-labs-wcm-3c.zip) over the top of Alfresco and add the wcm-bootstrap-context.xml file to the Alfresco Extensions directory.     After you restart Alfresco you should see the "Web Projects" space within Alfresco Explorer.

Its up to you whether you install any FSRs (alfresco-labs-deployment-3c.zip)   You won't need one to start with.

You will need to start the virtualisation server if you choose to use it to preview your website.    Again you don't need it to start with.

I don't know what the other download is. I've never used it.

I understand that without FSR, websites made with wcm are stored in the avm store. Is it possibile to backup and restore avm?

Yes, normal backup and restore procedures apply to all alfresco stores.

I finally managed to create the website of the tutorial and to see it in the preview.

I deployed it on the standalone deployment engine using port 44100.

Now I have to deploy the web app created with wmc on an application server like jboss, and I have some question:
1)which the best deployment strategy for my purpose? Standalone(44100), filesystem(50500), avm(50500) or alfresco(50500)?
2)what are the pros and cons of the previous strategies?

3)I have to develop and maintain three different web app created with wcm… Is there a way to tell Alfersco wcm to deploy webapp1 on jboss1, webapp2 on jboss2 and webapp3 on jboss3?

I forgot… Obviously my aim is to allow access to the site only to some alfresco's users, like only users that are subscribers to a service… Is it possible? thanks

On Labs 3c you only have the choice of FSR or ASR deployment.    ASRs have an Alfresco runtime and therefore have capabilities like full text search and permissions.    You will use an ASR to back up a dynamic website. FSRs are file level deployments only so typically you are adding files to be displayed by a web server.

Yes.    You can selectively deploy bits of a web project or deploy a whole web project.

First you have to decide whether to have one or more than one "Web Project".   The decision for how many web projects should be based on the contents, who owns and authors the content and what is the lifecycle of the content.    Common patterns are - one big web project,     one web project for content authors and one for the "system" and one common web project and a set of web projects which are translated for different domains.

You can also divide up a single web project into individual webapps, and deploy part of the web project based on a path query.
