I have many problems on setting up a working ldap-ad configuration in alfresco. I already tried several solutions proposed in other posts but they didn't work at all.

Judging from the logfile LDAP is not (yet) your problem: Alfresco says it cant start its builtin FTP-Server. So you should either disable this feature (i'd do this anyway unless you really have a good use case for FTP); or check why FTP cant start (Running Alfresco as non-root on Unix? Other FTPD running? Possibly Firewall on Windoze?)

Hello,

As the log say "LDAP authentication failed", it seems that Alfresco could not log to the ldap server.
You maybe have to change the following value with a user which could authenticate to the server:

ldap.synchronization.java.naming.security.principal=username@example.org
ldap.synchronization.java.naming.security.credentials=mypassword

this was exactly the solution to my problem. Unfortunately I have another problem related to the fact that I am not able to log in Alfresco with user name and password stored in my active directory.

As we have no Windows server and no active directory, I cannot help you with authentication through an AD.

But are you sure that you have to modify the xml files ?

I thought that from 3.2, you only have to add a subsystem and then change property files.

thank you very much for your replies. I think that the problem resides in the beans defined in the common-ldap-context.xml. I didn't change anything of the xml file, I only set up the minimum configuration on ldap-ad-authentication.properties file (I read in other posts related to this topic how to do it).
I currently installed the alfresco version 3.2r2 but I didn't find any useful help on this topic.
I don't know if it's better to change the common-ldap-context.xml or working on the ldap-ad-authentication.properties
However I am quite sure the problems resides in the beans definition of the common-ldap-contenxt.xml

I think to be near to the solution. I find out that xml files are not necessary (as Alain suggested). Now the log file returns the following information:

Well, finally I found the correct configuration for ldap-ad authentication.

The problem now reside on the override of the configuration file regarding ldap-ad files. I read in other posts that this problem was a bug which should be solved.
I am using the 3.2r2 version.

I put the alfresco-global.properties file in:
/srv/www/tomcat55/base/shared/classes

The ldap-ad-authentication-context.xml ldap-ad-authentication.properties in:
/srv/www/tomcat55/base/shared/classes/alfresco/extension/subsystems/Authentication/ldap-ad/ldap-ad1

If I rename the files in /srv/www/tomcat55/base/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/subsystems/Authentication/ldap-ad all works in the right way, otherwise, if i didn't rename the files, the files in /srv/www/tomcat55/base/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/subsystems/Authentication/ldap-ad have priority in the files I created to override the configuration.

Any help please?

Hello,

I have some parameters which are not taken from the properties file (from alfresco-global.prop… , share/…/subsystem/…), I had to set them with jconsole through JMX. This is annoying…

I read there was a problem on the override of Subsystems for the alfresco 3.2 release but it should be had been fixed:

I am quite sure to have a working configuration of my alfresco system because renaming the files in
/srv/www/tomcat55/base/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/subsystems/Authentication/ldap-ad
the files in
/srv/www/tomcat55/base/shared/classes/alfresco/extension/subsystems/Authentication/ldap-ad/ldap-ad1
begin to be read by the system.

Did anyone know what was the specific problem for the subsystem override in Alfresco's 3.2 community edition and if it was really fixed for Alfresco 3.2r2?

Hi all,

I figured out how to make all working, now the override is working in the right way.
I deleted the directory alfresco and I restart the tomcat service and the override works fine. I think that probably I previously changed some files in a wrong way.
