I am fresh in alfresco, I have a couple questions and I need your help

1) how do I know the version of alfresco it has been installed in windows server
2) how do I configure the login username and password for the alfresco ftp
3) how do I change the alfresco path

-> you can check by accessing http://yourserver:8080/alfresco/service/

-> you can create useraccounts in Alfresco or if you have configured Active Directory you can use the same for access to FTP, there is no separate logins for FTP, its the same as that of access of Alfresco

-> when you say change alfresco path, do you mean the web context path or ?

I mean ftp path, I want the user ftp to the alfresco ftp server and set the path to ,let say, d:\data\john

I think you misunderstand - Alfresco is not a generic FTP server, it provides FTP access into the repository (same as for WebDAV, HTTP/S, CIFS). So the FTP "path" is into the repository, not some /home/username/ftp directory

In Alfresco 3.4a you can disable the FTP properties to false in the alfresco-global.properties file

### FTP Server Configuration ###
ftp.enabled=false
ftp.port=21
ftp.ipv6.enabled=false

The file is under tomcat/shared/classes/ folder

Hi,

You do not necessarily have to edit the properties in alfresco-global.properties, it is possible to edit the information directly in file-servers.xml if you can locate this file. For my installation this is located in /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco.

As of Alfresco 3.2 the file is under tomcat/shared/classes/
but with versions < 3.2 it's under tomcat/shared/classes/extension/file-servers-custom.xml
Its not best practice to edit the files under the exploded war file, as in case if we have
to rebuild the war all changes will be lost.
