I just installed the latest version of 3.3 from SVN. In compiling and deploying it, when I click on my profile, there is no edit option. Is something wrong here or is that something new?

Edit: Seems to be based on this check that is new <#if profile.capabilities.isMutable> but not sure what it's checking.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I do. I am authenticating with LDAP and using LDAP sync. I was assuming since there is a google username field that may be tied to editing docs with google but can't set it because of this. Was going to override and set it back to the way it worked in 3.2R2 as you could edit things there but wasn't sure if this was required as I couldn't find anything on how Google Docs works with Alfresco.

I'd give more details but not in a place where I can pull up code. I would suggest looking at my original post where I identify what changed, and then download say the 3.2 version of that profile code and change it. After all, you could always edit the profile before and sync would overwrite it if someone changed something they shouldn't have. Alfresco team decided to just turn it off entirely until they could figure something out so why not just reimplement the old check which just checks if the current user is the user that's profile is trying to edit and allows editing of the fields.

This has been fixed for 3.3SP1 - appropriately mapped LDAP (or whatever) external fields will now be individually greyed out in the UI. Other fields such as photo and bio etc. will be available for editing as normal. This applies to a users profile and admin user console pages.

Thanks Kev. Is this enterprise version? For the 3.3f/g version in head now, I'm thinking I can set the isMutable to true in the function that checks based on the logged in user. Is there a single function/method that checks the Mutability of editing a user's record?

Yes it's in the Enterprise version first, it will be merged back to community. You can work-around the mutability check if you just want to be able to edit -all- fields - but you will need to the new code for individual property mutability.

I went to a pre 3.4 version and the edit user button shows but when clicked the screen area where the the viewable user attributes are listed goes blank. Do you have to define the editable fields somewhere so it knows which fields it should show and this is why it's not working?

K. I'm on rev 20574 and it seems to work in Firefox, but not in IE 8. Button does nothing. The button to Edit in IE 8 looks out of place also. Editing in Firefox seems to just allow editing of everything, not select items that aren't synced. Won't help much since where Share is used in an IE house. Did you try this on IE8 as for me it no work.

Yes tried on IE8 and it works, the Edit button looks correct also (our QA department have also validated the fix). Can you try clearing your internet files cache for me just to be sure?

Well it kind of might work. Due to a number of bugs in the synchronization code, I was left with the last check and all subsequent ones having no data; pulled no records. So I can edit the profile and EVERYTHING in it, but everything is blank so not sure if there are issues if the data was still there or what. Have another thread on issues with going from 3.2 to 3.3/3.3g and clearing out the users and adding them back in but no one seems to know why. This is a bit different that it stopped pulling and cleared everything. Had it set to recheck every 5 minutes as part of testing also.

With the latest code untouched the edit user works as it is supposed to. I have the same code to add attributes in for a user that I have had for years. Seems when that's injected it doesn't display, however when I select the whole page and paste into notepad, the stuff is there including the submit button, it's just not visually there. Assuming a div problem somewhere with the update to the way the edit page is rendered. Do I need to do something to a particular page to add in my custom attributes to get it to show or something? I have it showing on the view page, but not the edit page.

Figured out the problem, just not the solution. I noticed when Sync is off the edit page loads fine. When Sync is on I get a blank view. Noticed it seems to be related to the removal of references to skype and instantmsg from the userprofile.get.html.ftl file. Figured maybe somewhere else it was loading skype/instantmsg information and causing issues so removed references from person.lib.ftl, users.js, and profile.js but same deal. Anyone know what I need to do to make the form show when removing all code references to skype and instantmsg from the edit user page?

The form still references those properties - do you mean you have removed them in your customisations? If so it might just be matter of ensuring there are no references to those properties in the javascript and freemarker.

I'm running CE 3.3g and using LDAP sync, what version of CE should I be running to allow users to edit Alfresco only attributes like the avatar and company details options? At the moment the Edit Profile button is not appearing, is there something I need to edit to allow it to show, if so what and where is it?

That depends. Are you compiling your own version or installing the pre-compiled versions? If you are compiling, than from SVN download revision 20576. That is the latest stable version I would try using for now and it has the fix/update in it.
