Alfresco 3 and Alfresco 3.3 Web Service compatibility

junieboy

Hi,

I hope someone could shed some light on my question on the compatibility of the web services api. We have implemented the upload of files through web services in Alfresco 3.0 but we are moving to Alfresco 3.3.

Are all the web services api in 3.0 intact and not broken in 3.3?

Regards

Some bugs have been fixed, but there has been little change to the 3.0 WebServices. So they should still be the same.

The big addition in 3.3 are the CMIS web service bindings. As and when you start new development I suggest you discontinue use of the old web scripts and use CMIS instead.

Thanks for the response! Follow up question, I'm not actually using CMIS. I'm using the alfresco-web-service-client.jar that came from the Alfresco 3.0 SDK. If I continue using it in Alfresco 3.3, should there be any code changes in my part? Or is there a separate and updated alfresco-web-service-client.jar to be used for Alfresco 3.3?

I'm basically using the classes below in my implementation for the file upload using alfresco web service (Sorry if some were redundant as I've basically copied all imports from my classes)

You need to use the correct version of SDK. And you may need to recompile. I suggest you try it out.

I'll do some testing on my end. But also to confirm, is the Alfresco 3.3 web services API have backward compatible with the Alfresco 3 or 3.1 web services API? Meaning, using the 3.3 SDK, it should perfectly run in 3.1? Thanks for all the response.

Hi All,

I have done some initial tests creating spaces, uploading files and versioning through the web services 3.3 API using the alfresco-web-service-client-3.3.jar connecting to an Alfresco 3 Community Edition server (which is older than 3.3) and everything seems fine.

Could anyone share if there's any known issue if we go on this road? Thanks in advance!

Regards.
