Ok.  Why are these things so hard.

I have searched high and low trying to get my install working on 8.04 but still no.  Does any have a how to they can provide me with?  I installed it on 9.04 through the repos fine with no problems!!

Thanks

I have it up and running under Ubuntu Server 8.04 - mostly without problems

Try to install it from the Jaunty's partner repos, makes things quite easier:

1. Add these lines to your /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu hardy partner
deb-src http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu hardy partner
deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu jaunty partner
deb-src http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu jaunty partner
‍‍‍‍‍

2. Activate all the other repos (universe, multiverse etc.) to match all dependencies.

3. run these commands
apt-get update
apt-get install alfresco-community
apt-get upgrade

After installing follow the Alfresco Configuration Guides and search around the forum, all answers are here.

PS: you'll find Alfresco's parts in these pathes (mixed with the Tomcat6 ones):

Config: /usr/share/tomcat6/
Data: /var/lib/alfresco/
Tomcat6 working directory: /var/lib/tomcat6/   (the *.war files are linked to /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/)
Tomcat6 core config: /etc/tomcat6
