Release date

Do we know when 3.3g community is coming out? I know it's past it's release date which isn't uncommon but looking to compile some new functionality into my next release and want to work with the latest version as 3.3 is buggy and would prefer 3.3g. Any chance it comes out this week?

Thanks.

I have _no_ insight into a possible release, but using the latest nightly build (April 30), it seems pretty good.

There DO seem to be some CIFS regressions, or at least some slowdowns, but very much liking the Data Lists (and included templates).

I take it back - there are a few other issues, including a big one where existing MSOffice docs are not thumbnailed or flash-previewed. New additions work fine, but existing docs (tried a test-migration) do not render (deleting and re-adding works, so it is not a problem with the doc or with pdf2swf/imagemagick/soffice, or so it seems. Alfresco.log throws an error, but I can't tell if it is related (and probably no one wants a bug report on a nightly build).

Thanks for the reply. Was hoping someone from Alfresco would respond as I need to evaluate future release schedules for some new enhancements I want to put into our build and want to do this on 3.3g since 3.3 is buggy, but wasn't expecting an actual response.

v3.3G is "imminent". A couple of last-minute fixes are required, but these are being made as a matter of urgency.

The next major Community release will be towards the end of the calendar year.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks Mike. Hopefully it will be there by end of day Friday. Was looking forward to incorporating my new code changes into the 3.3g version this weekend.

Thanks.

You're probably safe to take the latest night build / SVN source. There won't be any major changes going through before release now; it should be trivial to manually apply any yourself if necessary.

Thanks,
Mike

I'm still having an issue with existing (in previous ver of Alfresco CE before upgrade procedure) MSOffice docs not being previewable or thumbnailed. Perhaps unrelated, but found a weird named directory: /opt/alf32/<%ShortInstallDir%>/alf_data/oouser/user Not sure if the <%ShortInstallDir%> is truly meant, but I guess it works. Still trying to track down my issue, started a full re-index…

The googledoc thing is pretty neat (but did not work with a spreadsheet)

I had this issue to where none of the thumbnails showed. For some reason after I rendered a new one the old ones started to show up again slowly out of the blue. Not sure why but obviously you haven't had the same eventual success with the thumbnails showing.

What I would be curious about which I never get answers to is items like OpenOffice, pdf2swf, convert, and ImageMagick, is there particular tested versions, in my case on Suse Linux, that work. I know there are versions that don't in the past due to changing of code so would be nice other than a pointer to the maker's sites to download the software, to state what versions are supported with the current build.

Thanks.

But it is more than just thumbnails… the SWF previews aren't there either, and typically if you clicked on a doc, it would generate the preview automatically (you can see soffice.bin and pdf2swf fire off in "top"), but that is not the case here - you get a "document cannot be previewed, click here to download".

I don't think the re-index helped, so I might start over with the upgrade process (from our current running-version to the lab-server again).

jriker1

Yes for me the preview worked so that is different than what I had. Nothing in the logs then huh? Tomcat or otherwise depending on your environment?

Nothing (in the logs) other than what I posted, and on more recent nightly-builds, not even that.

Am going to start over - get another copy of our hot-backup, and try again (I've been re-upgrading a hot-copy-snapshot, maybe the problem lies in there?)
