Inbound rules not working

Hi,

I can't get inbound rules working in Alfresco 3.2. Can anybody confirm that before I go ahead and file a bug?

I tried executing my own rules as well as predefined, I tried dropping files in the respective folder with CIFS and uploading content via web client, nothing works. Outbound and change work as expected. Do I have to configure anything?

I have some inbounds rules in Community 3.2 and they seem to work right.

Are you sure your rule conditions are correctly set? I have an space whit and inbound rule when an "*.xml" is loaded and another that fires when an specific document subtype is present, both working.

iblanco, I have no conditions (allitems). If I set up the exact same rule for change instead of inbound it works perfectly (when renaming e.g.).

Hmm … that sounds like a hitch with the CIFS interface, creating the node via CIFS seems to go past the rules, so only the update trigger "notices" the new content in the folder. So use the "dropzone" only to import ocntent and then move it to another space "on update rule".
This way, you can work with "update" and work around this behaviour.

But make sure to open up an issue with issues.alfresco.com, post link here and include ISSUE number in thread heading. This might be a feature, but might be a bug as well.

Hi, I have a similar problem.
But in my case both inbound and "on update" rules are not triggered when I add content via CIFS. I know my rules are correct because when I add content via Alfresco UI every thing goes as expected. I think this must be a supported feature since there is an example that triggers rules using CIFS in "Alfresco 3 Enterprise Content Management Implementation" chapter 6.
Is there a way of overcoming this problem (I use AlfrescoRMCommunity-3.2r-Linux-x86 on Ubuntu 9.10).

Edit : I overcomed this problem with a Scheduled Action for now. But looks like a temporary solution.

Hi Everyone,

My requirement is to trigger a custom workflow when an xml file is dropped in a particular folder and use the contents of the xml file during the process of workflow.

I started my requirement with following steps in mind
a. Initially I tried to create rule for a folder which triggers a simple workflow available in options (with Approve, Reject) when an xml file is dropped into a folder - which is not triggering the rule.
b. If it triggers how can I trigger a custom workflow from a rule?
c. How to use same xml file at different points of the workflow?
d. How to grab the elements in xml and use them throughout the workflow?

Can anyone help me with triggering a rule. I am struck at step 1.I am not able to trigger a rule. Even a copy of file rule is not working.Please refer attachments. Please suggest your ideas asap. Any help would be needful.

Hi Everyone,

As mentioned in my previous post. I am able to achieve Step 1. But my concern is every time I have to run rules manually by clicking on 'Run Rules for this folder'. How to trigger them automatically as soon as file enters the folder. Also I need help with Steps 2,3,4 i.e triggering my custom workflow and accessing the file throughout workflow. Please help me.
