Activiti 5.22 Install Error

Hi,

I am trying to install and use Activiti 5.22 on my system. When I try to start tomcat for first time after unzipping activiti explore into webapp folder, I get following error in log files:

Error on rename of '.\activiti\#sql-1fa4_12.frm' to '.\activiti\act_hi_procinst.frm' (Errcode: 13 - Permission denied)

The same error I get when I try to run script "activiti.mysql.create.history.sql" into MySQL Workbench.

What is wrong happening.

Based on the following error message from your log:

couldn't create db schema: create index ACT_IDX_IDENT_LNK_GROUP on ACT_RU_IDENTITYLINK(GROUP_ID_)

It would suggest you dont have correct permissions for the database.
Try updating your db.properties to use the in memory h2 database as a test and make sure everything starts up (I expect it will).
If things work with H2, then we know we have a database issue, likely permissions.

I think you are on linux, if so, try this:

"sudo aa-status"

The output will have something like this:

3 profiles are in enforce mode.
...    /usr/sbin/mysqld

in this case you have to change the permissions by modifying this file:
/etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld

and add rw permisions to the .\activiti  folder.

Thanks for reply.

But I am using Windows 7 pro 64 bit. And My Tomcat and MySQL are installed in C:/Program Files.

Database gets created on "D" drive.

Could that be the reason for problem. Moving these two software to different directory would be too much of work as there are other applications using it too also in my PC.

Do you have an antivirus software on this machine? (make sure there is not an antivirus software active and then try again)

if this is your case you should set a rule in your antivirus to ignore the changes into that folder.

You are right in saying that with H2 database, activiti explorer runs without any issues. However with MySQL database, it gives the problem.

However, If I directly execute sql scripts for table creation (engine, history and identity) provided with activiti-explorer directly through MySQL workbench, tables gets created successfully and I can run activiti-explorer.

In-fact, I have been using version 5.19 on same setup for long and never faced this issue. Quite strange

So, I got it running by creating database by running table creation scripts that comes with activiti-explorer.
