how can i deploy alfresco.war on standalone apache/tomcat

Hi,

i've downloaded alfresco.war, 3.x, and want to deploy this on our own tomcat server.
Is it doable and if so what's the process. Basically i want to use our own apache+tomcat to host alfresco and not the out of box install.

Can any body please advise. Thanks.

It's probably easier if you use the installer first to become familiar with Alfresco before you try and set Alfresco up manually.

Its not hard, but its much easier once you know what your doing!

If you look on the wiki you will find details of how to install Alfresco
For example even though the link below document describes using the installer, the configuration of the database, image magic etc is still the same regardless of the route that alfresco gets onto your machine.   http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Installing_on_Microsoft_Windows  you may also like to look at the developer's documentation for installing from svn.

The steps are roughly
1) Create an the empty alfresco database.
2) install the database driver (copy a jar into Tomcat's lib dir)
2) Configure custom-repository.properties in Tomcat's extensions folder to point to your database and driver.
3) The easiest way of installing your war file is to copy it into Tomcat's webapps folder and then restart tomcat.  Tomcat will do the rest.
