Implementing my digital library

Dear,

I'm implementing Alfresco as our digital library.

Basicaly this is what I would like to implement.
Every book/document is scanned and dropped in Tiff format in an alfresco folder.
Then an OCR engine is applied (Which one?) Kofax is a bit expensive for 2k papers a year

Then when I manually drop an article in a certain space I would like every space (and sub space) name added to the description (as metadata) so that the search is easier.

Categorisation is off course an option but I dont know how to activate that through rules either.

Is this possible?

We did the exactly your idea, we are using Q-Doc Scanning Software on http://www.qdoclive.com or http://www.alfresco-plugin.com for the scanning and OCR and send directly to the alfresco automatically.
