This Community release is the second in the set of releases that will showcase upcoming Alfresco 3.0 product enhancements. This release also includes additional bugs fixes rolled up from our 2.1 Enterprise updates.

* Project Spaces (image library, doc library, email-in archive, calendar, IM presence, blog integration)
* iGoogle Gadgets

I'd also like to introduce Tagging within the Microsoft Office add-ins. This update only requires the Alfresco repository to be updated, not the client add-in code.

Document Tagging
The active document can be tagged (and untagged) using the new area within the Document Details tab.

Tag Cloud
A new "Tags" tab shows a repository-wide tag cloud. Clicking a tag will search for all documents so tagged.

Some really nice new features there, good job!

So the first thing I tested was to create a meeting. And meeting in swedish is mÃƒÂ¶te, and only a-z is allowed for naming a meeting, could not have that word in my meeting.

So I hereby give you rÃƒÂ¤ksmÃƒÂ¶rgÃƒÂ¥s (shrimp sandwich) that contains all 3 extra characters in swedish alphabet. Cut and paste and use in all your testing.
A similar danish word is blÃƒÂ¥bÃƒÂ¦rgrÃƒÂ¸d (blueberry cream).

So have a look at meeting creation, same problem with tagging. Didn't work to use rÃƒÂ¤ksmÃƒÂ¶rgÃƒÂ¥s in tagging either.

I will do some more 'rÃƒÂ¤ksmÃƒÂ¶rgÃƒÂ¥s' testing for other stuff as well, will file those in JIRA if and when I find something.

Hi,
I have downloaded AlfrescoCommunity-2.9.0B-Setup.exe for windows, the installation works fine, but the alfresco.war file is not deployed.
So i am still on 2.9.0

Under Company Home I see the usual: Data Dictionary, Guest Home and User Homes Spaces, nothing more. The Projects Space is nowhere to be seen.

I renamed C:\Alfresco\tomcat\webapps\alfresco to alfresco.old.
Restarted alfresco, and 2.9.0 B is deployed, but this should'nt be the way, is it?

If you redeploy an updated WAR file, be sure to delete the expanded directory when restarting Tomcat, so that the updated WAR file will be re-expanded…

Thanks for spotting this - it looks like an encoding problem with MSIE as it works fine using Firefox. I'll investigate and fix.

I don't know about developers, but that would be a very good idea. We are currently storing our organizational calendars in Alfresco through WebDAV, but CalDAV should be even better for that purpose, shouldn't it?

From what I understood, you create an XML-schema file in /Data dictionnary/Forms and then when you create new content you have the opportunity to select this "schema" and create a document based on it.

Or maybe there is more than that?

Excellent work. Congratulations! We are making some tests before upgrade our server and we found some issues that we want to share with the community and post at jira.

Our Platform for test:

Core 2 Duo 1 Gb RAMUbuntu Server 7.10War InstallationJDK 1.6.0.03Tomcat 6.0.14MySQL 5.45 (MySQL GUI Tools Administration) ***OpenOffice (The latest version installed with apt-get)Imagemagick (The latest version installed with apt-get)Samba (The latest version installed with apt-get)eth0 and eth0 configured for CIFSIssues Founded:

1. All the Ajax apps in order to choose Spaces [Select Space] in some actions under Rules creation does not work with Firefox.

2. The logo for sourcefoge at the footer appears bad in Internet Explorer.

3. Webdav does not work. CIFS and FTP works fine.

4. Transform a file to PDF and put the copy at another space works does not make the copy at the other selected space, in fact let the copy at the same space with original.

*** About MySQL 5.0.45 ***

This was our nightmare for the installation.

The new version of MySQL do not use the skip-networking environment variable in order to access MySQL from MySQL GUI Tools.

You must disable first the bind variable at /etc/mysql/mysql.cnf, restart MySQL and access MySQL from the console and apply all privileges to root@% and then create the alfresco database and user and his provileges.

We will make some tests with the new versions of MySQL 5.1 and 6BETA.

We are making the translation to Spanish and we found that we must explore the code because some messages for workflow and Office Add-on web scripts are contained into the code, but aour work is in progress.

THE PROJECT SPACE is excellent. We are thinking in many uses for this option. We are exploring the Jabber connection in order to have a secure IM option.

I'm not exactly sure what you're saying the problem is here - did the Alfresco db_setup script not work with 5.0.45? If not, that's another one for JIRA please!

Thanks for your contribution. We're aware that the Office add-ins aren't currently I18N enabled, but this is on our todo list and will hopefully be released with a future 2.9 version.

I'm locking this announcement thread now, as it's already getting messy with various issue reports, suggestions and other comments. We do value Community contributions such as these, but it's all too easy to lose information if a thread contains too many separate conversations.

Unable to reproduce these issues - are you sure you cleared your browser(s) cache after updating to the new build?

Do you have FireBug running in Firefox but disabled? If so this is the problem! Please either REMOVE or ENABLE FireBug extension - this is a known problem with this extension - it is not a bug in Alfresco.
