Using Activiti Modeler without an internet connection

Hello folks.

We have downloaded and installed Activiti (5.0-beta2) and we have set it up on a mobile computer which does not have an internet connection. We are now facing the following error message when trying to load the modeler:

The application could not be loaded. Please double check your internet connection and reload the page.

Why is an internet connection required to use a local installation of Activiti Modeler? Can this be avoided somehow?

Does anybody encounter the same problem with the more recent version of Activiti (rc1)?

I run the modeler many times when I had no internet, and I never saw that message.
Do you have a stacktrace from the Tomcat logs ?

Hello Joram.

I have searched JIRA and it seems that this has been fixed in 5.0-rc1. Here's the link to the issue:

So we are going to install 5.0-rc1 to get rid of the problem.

Hi Sebastian,

The fix for that particular JIRA was specifically for the YUI issues, which resulted in the UI looking bad when not connected.

Any issues with build scripts or running other components have not been fixed by that ticket.

There is: ACT-77 (http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/ACT-77) Related to URL Rewrite error messages when you're offline, however I don't think that is what you're seeing.

I don't know of any existing issues like this having been raised with the Modeler app, but I've not done much work with the modeler app myself, so I'm not aware of all the issues that their developers are. It'll probably be worth having a quick search on JIRA and raising a ticket if you don't find one.
