multiple instances on one server? (windows)

Hi everyone,

I am new to Alfresco but have been asked to give it a try and set it up.

I have a windows 2003 server that I am using.

It currently has Alfresco (with Tomact) installed in C:\Alfresco version 2.2.0

I would like to install 2.9.0 for testing.

Can I install it on the same server?

I would like to use a second database (already created with a second user)
I installed it in c:\alfresco2
I changed server.xml to a different port and a different shutdown port.

I changed the configuration file to use mysql and alfresco2 database.

but when I go to localhost:8090/alfresco it says not found. but Tomcat is running just fine.

Hi

Unfortunately this won't work for a number of reasons, e.g. FTP, CIFS and RMI port clashes, etc.

There's no problem installing a second instance that's configured to use a separate database (we do this all the time for development jumping between versions) but you can only actually have one running at once.

If you absolutely must have them running concurrently, I'd recommend getting hold of VMware Workstation, or Microsoft VirtualPC and doing it that way.
