Set properties on an AVM node

Hi!
I was just wondering: is it possible to custom set or change properties on AVM nodes? If so: how?
I tried the avmNodeService and it is possible to get properties but as soon as I try to set or change a property nothing happens. All changes are ignored.
Is there anything I have to think about? Do I have to use another service?
Does anybody have an example?

thanks for your reply. I thinks that I've seen a post from Kevin somewhere here in the forum where he said that it is possible. Unfortunately I wasn't able to actually do it. I did commit the changes but it doesn't make a difference. The changes just aren't accepted. That's why I asked for maybe an example or more detail on how to do it.
I just realized that I'm working on files in the staging sandbox. I hope that's not the reason for my failure. I'll try it with a user sandbox as well.

Yes, that'd be the reason for your error. Any user modification to the site should always occur in the context of a user sandbox. Things modified in a user sandbox can be considered those items that are "checked-out" and the submit process akin to a "check-in" to version and make a change set globally available to other users.

I also tried to work on a user sandbox but that didn't work either. I'm doing something like:

    UserTransaction tx = transactionService.getUserTransaction();
    tx.begin();
    avmNodeService.setProperty(…);
    tx.commit();
}
catch (Exception e) {
    …
}‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍

and I'm working on a node with the storeRef

avm://demo–admin‍

but unfortunately my changes aren't excepted. Currently I've no idea what I'm doing wrong.
