We've started an enhancement process for the Alfresco SSL Generator Tool (https://github.com/Alfresco/alfresco-ssl-generator). This tool helps to generate mTLS configuration for Alfresco Repository and Search Services (SOLR) communication (https://docs.alfresco.com/search-services/latest/install/options/#install-with-mutual-tls).
An initial improvement list has been created in https://github.com/Alfresco/alfresco-ssl-generator/issues
Thanks to @heiko_robert for his contributions and initiative, that helped to build this list.
Every Community member is invited now to vote the existing issues and to include additional ideas.
Let us know what you need and we'll start with the implementation of the selected enhancements from April 18th 2022.
If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together
Thanks for giving the possibility to bring up ideas.
In my eyes, the tool would be a good candidate to include it directly into the alfresco product, so that users can generate certificates directly from the admin console.
@jego sounds like an awesome new feature for the ootbee-support-tools
As of my two cents, I used this tool couple of times and I think the worst think was not the key generation but its setup. There are Alfresco docs, blogs showing how to set up these keys with the Alfresco (5.x,6.x,7.x) and Solr, but every resource is either incomplete or not up to date or too much complicated. Step-by-step guide for the Alfreco Community 7.x would be much appreciated. Setting up mutual authentication in Alfresco was always a nightmare for me.
