REST Process Definition Parameters

I have a simple process that I'm trying to test invoking from the REST API. It's just a start, service task, and end with the service task pointing to a JavaDelegate. Everything works fine when I start manually but calling the REST API returns: "Failed to retrieve the process definition parameters". Additionally I can successfully start any of the example processes via REST. I've been through the book and the forum and right now I'm stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
